Job Hopping Actually Helped Me Double My Salary

Employment Hopping Actually Helped Me Double My Salary In school, when grown-ups would ask me what my major was, my reaction was consistently, Psychology, since I have no clue about what I need to do however I think that its intriguing. I generally felt I must be guarded about my degree, in part since I truly didnt comprehend what I needed to do with it, which hence caused it to feel liberal rather than viable. After graduation, I took a vocation working in acquiring specialized curriculum administrations for infants. Following a year, I had taken in some significant exercises and aptitudes, and felt prepared to proceed onward to the following test. As I think back 10 years after the fact, I understand that the best expertise I sharpened was figuring out how to tune in to my instinct reveal to me when the time had come to proceed onward, when I was done developing, was stuck in a level pecking order, or was encircled by an excessive number of harmful impacts. Nonetheless, I likewise took in a couple of more exercises that permitted me to make the existence I adore lastly acknowledge that I ought to be suitably made up for what I do. Exercise #1: How to utilize enthusiastic knowledge I left that first employment understanding the effect my words could have on a family whose youngster had recently been determined to have a formative deferral or confusion. I couldnt fix the issue for them right then and there, however I could offer my tuning in, my compassion, and associate them to progressively lasting assets that could bolster them on their excursion. I proceeded onward to my next activity with that ability and kept on refining it while working in abusive behavior at home. Once more, I wound up in a position where I couldnt consistently offer arrangements, however could offer help and assets. Having a benefit based outlook implies surrounding difficulties as open doors for development. Families who had the option to see subsequent stages through a perspective of plausibility had reliably preferable results for their children over families who were incapacitated by their sentiments of dread and tension. The equivalent is valid for any work environment. Any test, paying little mind to size, can be viewed as a barricade or a temporary re-route. Just one of those will keep you pushing ahead. Following eighteen months there, I was acknowledged into Teach For America, and started my educating vocation. Exercise #2: How to swim when youre tossed into the profound end I appeared on my first day of educating with precisely five weeks of summer school understudy instructing added to my repertoire. I had shown English/Language Arts over the late spring and was currently being approached to make the whole English as a Second Language division at my school. I had never educated ESL, had minimal academic comprehension of the hypotheses and exploration behind accepted procedures, and had never worked in a school the mid year. All things considered, I was given an office, little direction, and a ton of scope. I conversed with specialists both inside and outside of my association, investigated wherever I could, and eventually went with my gut. The primary year wasnt flawless yet every choice I made was in view of my understudies, and regardless of whether it wasnt in every case right, it pushed us ahead. I couldnt have done it in the event that I had been reluctant to request help or persuaded I knew all that I expected to as of now. I must be modest and curious, and willing to both commit errors and gain from them. Toward the end ofthree long periods of educating, I felt prepared for another test and area. I had recently finished my Masters in Social Work and needed to accomplish progressively social/passionate work. I moved to another city and was prepared to move into to a greater degree a position of authority in social administrations. Exercise #3: Sometimes you need to go in reverse to go ahead I immediately learned thatthree employments and six years into my all out profession, I was all the while missing a significant part to my resume: I had never been a clinical social specialist. Nobody was going to recruit me in such an administration job for social administrations if Id never been in the channels. Subsequently, I chose to play a clinical job, despite the fact that I had been hoping to make an inclining move from instructing to social administrations management. I understood that I would not be as successful of a pioneer without that hands-on understanding. I could just have found out about the quick and dirty of being a specialist from really doing it. I learned more in my first clinical specialist work than I can put a name to, including attitudes and aptitudes that make me a great mentor. Exercise #4: You dont need to remain on a sinking transport When I had subsided into being an advisor and was working at an elective secondary school, I was wearing out rapidly and stupendously. I cherished working with my understudies and their families, however my supervisors caused me to feel like Sisyphus pushing the unceasing stone up a slope. Hierarchical administration was a wreck, there was consistent turnover at the most senior levels, and every individual chief was attempting to serve their own clashing dreams. I, and a large number of my partners, experienced restlessness, enthusiastic eating, hypervigilance, overstated surprise reflexes, and as a general outcome, expanded truancy. I at last looked for counsel from an expert tutor, exposing my tension over conceivably leaving the school and forsaking its strategic. He said to me, You continue looking at deserting the strategic the school, however shouldn't something be said about your own crucial? On the off chance that you remain in this activity, you will wear out of the whole field of social administrations totally. You continue organizing what every other person needs from you. When will what you need be as significant, or increasingly significant, than what every other person needs? It was a finished defining moment for me, and constrained me to recognize my very own statement of purpose. I understood that the manner in which I need to appear on the planet didn't line up with the school, and I left to begin my own instructing business. I have never been more joyful and realize that I am accomplishing the work I was intended to do, in the manner in which I was intended to do it. Figuring out how to trust and organize myself was a lengthy, difficult experience, and I staggered commonly en route. I despite everything lurch, and each time I do, being able to concentrate on my very own strategic me back to my motivation throughout everyday life and permits me to recalibrate. Exercise #5: Know your value After I went into business, I concentrated the vast majority of my work on singular instructing and treatment, enhanced with corporate workshops. Following two years, I got into a strong beat and felt prepared to take on some various difficulties. I ran over an open door with a speculative stock investments, accomplishing work that was both new to me yet totally inside my wheelhouse. I had not been thinking about taking on any agreements for all day work, yet everything about this was spot on. I was reluctant to answer to somebody again dependent on past negative encounters, was hesitant to surrender my adaptable, self-coordinated timetable, and wasnt sure I could adjust the entirety of my customers with the work. Be that as it may, rather than doing what I may have before, which is expect the appropriate response is no, I spread out my case and made contentions for what plan I expected to guarantee I would perform best. Together, we worked in adaptability, execution put together benchmarks to be clear with respect to what was normal, and hard stops to the workday when I have customers to find in the nighttimes. More than all else, I tuned in to my instinct when meeting each colleague. Notwithstanding being anxious about coming back to a situation that I was unable to control, I had set clear boundaries, and went to each discussion with examination and proof to back up what I was requesting. Because of my group of work in the course of the most recent decade, I had the option to address an assortment of ranges of abilities and exhibit my energy for individuals focused work, which at last put me in the situation to have the option to haggle for more than twofold any past pay I have ever constructed, while keeping up my instructing and treatment practice.

How To Answer What are Your Strengths

How To Answer What are Your Strengths Today, we are tackling another critical job interview question: What are your strengths? This is a commonly-asked question in job interviews for all levels of positions in all industries.Even when this question is not asked, you must be able to answer it in order to land the job. After all, from the employers perspective, the main point of a job interview is to understand what you could do for the organization and why she should hire you instead of someone else. You must be prepared to talk about your strengths. Many candidates dont do it well, so there is an opportunity for you to stand out from the crowd if you can speak about your strengths in an authentic and compelling way.Lets start by talking about how to respond when an interviewer asks you specifically, What are your strengths? (or What are your three greatest strengths? or similar)Why Do Interviewers Ask This Question? Its the interviewers job to find someone who will perform in the position and get along with the team. With t his question, the interviewer seeks to find out if:Your strengths align with the companys needsYou can do the job and perform like a rock starYou are the best person for the job no need to hold out for someone betterYou have qualities, skills, and/or experience that set you apart from the competitionYou are someone who will make an excellent addition to the teamCommon MistakesSome people think this is an easy question. This question is basically a prompt for you to brag and sell yourself as the best fit for the job. So how could you screw it up? You know yourself, right?Unfortunately, many candidates fail to prepare properly and sabotage themselves. Here are some of the common mistakes that I see when working with my coaching clients:Lack of self-awareness.Most job seekers don’t spend enough time analyzing their strengths and thinking about which ones are most relevant for each position. Knowing your strengths will serve you well in job interviewing and for the rest of your life as well. If you dont feel you have a clear sense of your job-related strengths, read on for some advice on how to identify them.Modesty.Many candidates are too humble or just aren’t comfortable articulating what makes them great. This is particularly true for introverts and/or people who never really had to sell themselves before because new jobs always fell in their laps in the past. You have to get over any hesitation to say nice things about yourself. You can do it in a way that feels comfortable and authentic if you prepare in advance.Choosing lame strengths.Others choose strengths that don’t help them stand out strengths that arent important for the job at hand or strengths that just about anybody could claim. This mistake makes a candidate bland and forgettable at best. At worst, you can raise red flags with the interviewer who wants to hire someone whose greatest strength is the ability to show up on time? How to Talk About Your StrengthsIt’s important to take the time to identify your strengths and PRACTICE talking about them in advance. That way, youll be ready when you walk into that interview for your dream job. Lets start by identifying/confirming what your greatest strengths are:1. Brainstorm.Sit down and make a list of your top strengths aim for at least 10 and be creative. Banish your modest internal editor to another room. Jot down everything that comes to mind. You can delete later if you like.Your strengths could include:Experience Experience with a certain software or type of task, expertise in a particular industry, a track record of working with similar products or clients, etc.Talents Abilities such as programming in a desired language, writing proposals, selling widgets, litigating cases, organizing events, translating from Mandarin, etc. (the possibilities here are truly endless)Soft skills Competencies such as problem solving, influencing, team building, negotiation, managing up, etc.Education/training Relevant background o n topics critical to the job including college degrees, certifications, training seminars, mentoring, internships, etc.If you have trouble coming up with enough work-related strengths, jot down positive personality qualities or personal strengths. You may find ways to relate these to job performance.2. Focus.Narrow your list down to least five strengths that you are comfortable discussing (or could get comfortable discussing with a little bit of practice). The more, the better. You may not talk about all of these strengths in every interview, but it’s good to have options.3. Prepare Examples.Develop at least one example or Interview Story to illustrate each of your strengths. If youre not sure how to go about crafting compelling stories and examples from your previous experience, check out Big Interview and our Answer Builder.Inside Big InterviewOur complete training system for job interviews gives you video lessons, sample answers, and an interactive practice tool for all of the se different versions of What is your greatest strength? Get StartedWatch this brief video to learn a little more about Big Interview, and click here to look inside the proven, step-by-step system weve developed for interview prep.Choosing the Right Strengths1. Be accurate.Choose strengths that you actually possess. Dont pick a strength just because its in the job description or worked for your buddy. You want to be yourself in an interview, just the best and most professional version of yourself. You will be much more convincing and likable if you talk about authentic strengths.2. Be relevant. You should take the time to analyze the job description and identify the most important strengths for each opportunity. You likely have many strengths, but which will be most relevant for this interviewer?3. Be specific.Choose specific strengths. Instead of “people skills” (too broad and boring), go with “relationship building” or “persuasive communication.” Don’t be generic. Cou ld 90% of your friends claim your strength? Pick another one.4. Dont be too humble.See the common mistakes above. Avoid “weak praise” and lame strengths. Pick something impressive. Don’t go with “pleasant to work with” as your main selling point. Just about everybody can and should be pleasant to work with. To get the job, you have to show you would bring more to the position.5. Be prepared to demonstrate. As discussed, have a concise example ready to back each strength up. Be careful about rambling on too long here. Your answer should still be 1-2 minutes long. If you want to share three strengths and back each up with an example, you will want to practice in advance so that you can do it in a concise way.I Dont Know My Own StrengthsIf you get stuck trying to develop a list your strengths, try these techniques:1. Get a second opinion.Ask a trusted friend or colleague what they think are your greatest strengths.2. Dig for clues.Go back to previous performance reviews and an alyze the positive feedback. Dig up old emails praising your work (if you havent been saving these, start a folder now). If youre a student or new grad, think about the feedback that youve received from professors and supervisors from past internships and jobs.3. Review your resume.Look for common themes in your achievements. Sometimes, were so close to the subject that we lose perspective. Try to read your resume with fresh eyes as if it was the resume of an admired friend. What stands out?4. Get scientific.Try the StrengthsFinder assessment. You can answer a series of questions and get a report that summarizes your top strengths. This should spark some ideas and/or help you focus your thinking. I use StrengthsFinder with many of my coaching clients and the results can really help with your professional and personal development. Many corporations also ask their employees to take the StrengthsFinder assessment as a foundation for their performance improvement plans.www.StrengthsFin der.comSome Example Answers toWhat Are Your Strengths?1. Example Answer: 3 Strengths for a Technology Team LeaderI think one of my greatest strengths is as a problem solver. I have the ability to see a situation from different perspectives and I can get my work done even in the face of difficult obstacles. I also feel that my communication skills are top-notch. I feel just as comfortable presenting to senior executives as I do mediate a conflict between junior team members. I worked as a programmer in the past so I have that perspective of a developer and I think that they respect me for that. Why We Like It:This is a nice answer that summarizes three strengths that are relevant for the job at hand. Just saying   that youre a problem solver and have good communication skills can sound bland and rehearsed. You have to add some detail and color to make your answer more believable and memorable. In this case, the candidate talks about how her problem-solving skills work (seeing things f rom different perspectives) and gives examples of her communication skills (presenting to senior leaders and mediating team disputes). We also like the discussion of her programming past and how this makes her a better manager.Notice that she did not include a specific example for each of the strengths cited. Sometimes you want to avoid squeezing too much detail into one answer. You dont want this answer to turn into an endless monologue. This candidate gave a little bit of detail for each strength and then left an opening for the interviewer to ask for more information. She should, of course, be prepared with an Interview Story for each of her strengths. That way, she will be ready when   the interviewer asks: Tell me about a time when you solved a difficult problem or Give me an example of a conflict that you mediated.2. Example Answer: Work Ethic“One of my strengths is my strong work ethic. When I commit to a deadline, I do whatever it takes to deliver. For example, last week w e had a report due and got some numbers back late from our team in Singapore. I pulled an all-nighter to finish the spreadsheet because I knew that the client HAD to receive the report on time.”Why We Like It:Notice that the answer goes beyond “hard worker,” which is way too general. Anybody can say that they work hard. This candidate gets specific about what work ethic means to him and talks about being deadline-driven and reliable, with a specific example.3. Example Answer: Organizational SkillsI think this job is a great fit for my experience and my interests.First of all, I’m highly organized and very good at keeping a department running. I know the kinds of issues that come up in a busy marketing department and I actually enjoy the detail work of scheduling, prioritizing, organizing, and following up.On the other hand, I’m also a Creative person. I think that really comes in handy in marketing. And especially at an innovative company like this one.I’m known for comi ng up with creative solutions to problems like when I came up with the fashion trivia contest for ShopSpree.com that led to tons of new sign-ups on the site and a huge new Instagram following. And I’m very Team-oriented. I love collaborating with other people, especially creative people.I’m also known for being the kind of person you can always count on in a pinch.Like when I got out of bed at 1am to run to the printer’s to pick up and collate presentations for a big 8am meeting. 4. Example Answer: Writing Skills (New college grad applying for analyst position)“I am proud of my writing skills and believe that they will make me a better analyst. I am able to communicate complicated topics to different audiences. I can take a lot of data and information and find the story and themes that clients need to know about.I honed my research and writing abilities during my days writing for the college paper, where I learned how to write well on deadline from pretty demanding editors. I even won an award for my series on the financial crisis. Why We Like It:This answer explains why the candidate is a good writer and how that applies to the position. The example adds credibility, showing that others also believed the candidates writing skills were top-notch (editors, award judges).5. Another Example Answer: Work EthicWhat If They Dont Ask Me About My Strengths? If the interviewer doesnt think to ask you about your strengths (not every interviewer has been trained to ask the right questions), youll have to look for opportunities to bring up the topic.Keep in mind that there are many other questions that basically ask for your strengths. These include:Why should we hire you?Why are you the best person for the job? What makes you a good fit?You should walk into every interview with a clear goal: to communicate your greatest and most relevant strengths to the interviewer. If you arent asked directly, look for openings. For example, when asked a behavioral question (Tell m e about a time), share an example that illustrates one of your top strengths and emphasize it.If all else fails, wait until the end of the interview when they ask you if you have anything else to add (after you have asked some smart questions of the interviewer). Then, take the opportunity to summarize your strengths and reiterate your interest in the position.

Applying for Jobs Is Ineffective - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Applying for Jobs Is Ineffective - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Many people are looking desperately for suitable jobs, but ask yourself whether you’re just working hard at it or smart at it. Many get so disappointed by the entire process that they give up entirely. Please don’t! Via this article, I want to revive your interest by attempting to logically explain the job search process and how to go about it. The answer lies in being effective at networking. Only a small percentage of people say they enjoy meeting new people while in transition. An equally small percentage network out of necessity. However, because they may have had bad experiences and have come to believe networking to be a waste of time, a majority of people in transition don’t take advantage of the opportunities coming their way. The objective of networking is not to meet people but to be referred by people (1) who can talk to others about your past performance and (2) who are willing to recommend you. Such recommendations are remarkably more valued by a hiring decision maker versus simply interviewing people based on their résumés. A recommendation by a trusted source based on past performance on the job is more convincingâ€"and a better predictor of future performance and potentialâ€"than relying on gut feelings after the interview. There are two steps for this process to be successful. The first is to choose a few people who know your past performance to the point that they’re not only willing to vouch for you but also willing to go the extra mile by actually putting in a good word for you. However, you want to make sure that those people are familiar with the information in your actual résumé or at least your LinkedIn profile. To ensure that, ask for their feedback on either one or both. Then ask them to either call on your behalf or introduce you to someone they consider being in a position to help you. I know this procedure can be highly uncomfortable, but assure the people that you would do the same for them if the shoe were on the other foot. The second step is to reverse the networking process. Start with a job opening that interests you. Next, find someone in your circle of connections who can introduce you to someone else at that company. Once you’ve made that inside connection, you must become focused and proactive. Ask for further connections until you get closer to the decision makers for the job. This sounds difficult and is usually out of most people’s comfort zones, but it is very effective. Those who are persistent get favorable results. At times, you’ll feel you’ve hit a brick wall or ended up in a cul-de-sac. But don’t give up. Keep going, because the method works. Admittedly, the headwind, the pushback, and the system’s failure rates are considerable. It’s easy to become disappointed and to want to give up. To stay focused, establish a reasonable target of connections you want to make each week. Challenge yourself to stay the course. Remember famous film producer Samuel Goldwyn, who said, “The harder I work, the luckier I become.” It’s so true. And I wish you lots of luck. The Power of Your Name in Personal Branding - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

The Power of Your Name in Personal Branding - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Your name is the single most important factor in your enterprise, whether you introduce and represent your company by speaking your name loudly and clearly while offering a hearty handshake or write an equally hearty introductory post on a discussion thread. Here’s a slightly off topic tip: the back of your head or an avatar that looks like Gumby and Courtney Love had a child, not a good personal branding choice. I counsel my clients to use their whole names, by the way. So unless you are Perez or Cher (who might be the same person since we’ve never seen them together), when you are introducing yourself or registering on a website use: Bunky McFearson. That is, if you are Bunky McFearson. So Bunky, when you’re making a new acquaintance live and in-person, you might add: “That’s McFearson with an F.” Give them a hook give them a visual You see, within seconds of making contact: you got to work in your last name twice. You might also add, “I know, I look a lot like Kenny in South Park. I figure the K in my first name: ‘B-u-n-K-y’, is our connection.” Always add something that forces your audience (one or one thousand plus people) to spend time remembering your name. You might give an association of your name and likeness to a famous person, develop a word picture or story, or create another reason that allows you to repeat your name. Why is this an important factor in personal branding and not simply echolalia?   Because youre helping your audience overcome a widespread and embarrassing problem.   Almost everyone is nervous when it comes to remembering names of people they’ve just met. So, your name ritual is a personal branding tool for two reasons. One, you are making multiple impressions with your name. Two, you are perceived as ready, relaxed and helpful, perhaps even opening a window on your sense of humor. Simply put, you are relationship building. Here’s one of my self-introductions for a networking event. “I’m Nance Rosen. Yes, just Nance, not NanCY. When I was born, my parents were too poor to afford more than one syllable, so they left off the Y and stuck on an E. So, I’m not Nancy Rosen just Nance Rosen.” (Pause and Smile) Just kidding. Actually, there’s only one other Nance I know. She’s Nance Mitchell the famous Beverly Hills hairdresser. Obviously, no one would mistake us for each other (my hair is usually pinned up so I can shower and get to work in under ten minutes). Obviously, we have different businesses and priorities (Smile). I’m the executive publisher at Pegasus Media World and I speak to audiences on the topic of personal branding.” Avoid the vacuum I want to break you of the habit of introducing yourself into a vacuum. The first time you say your name it is swallowed up and your audiences brain space goes vacant. You need to establish your name as a beachhead for your personal branding from now on. No, you don’t have to do a soliloquy, but you do want to say something so people can later LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, and more, with you. If they collect a pile of business cards, they will remember you when they see your name. Do this before your next holiday gathering. 1. Consider how you can say your name and associate it with memorable images. 2. Create your “story” and say it 10 times before you greet your sister’s boyfriend’s cousin’s daughter at your family’s holiday party. Every new person you meet could be a prospect or referral source. 3. Never stop branding. Author: Nance Rosen is the author of Speak Up! Succeed. Become More Charismatic

Become More Charismatic Embed from Getty Imageswindow.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'fvk_-tDsTk1p4CtBiMfpzQ',sig:'0r1cA_RKZeBssUaJZmjBHMEoWcdvVRssM95f_JYNhWE=',w:'496px',h:'345px',items:'451306041',caption: false ,tld:'com',is360: false })}); I’ve been sharing tips from Charlie Houpert, the 20-something author of Charisma on Command: Inspire, Impress, and Energize Everyone You Meet . He has a formula for “taking your confidence and charisma to the next level in the situations where you need it the most.” Houpert has some actionable tips for becoming more charismatic. Here are a few. Charisma, he writes, doesn’t convince. “Someone with real charisma,” he writes, “respects that other people have different opinions. They don’t seek other people’s approval to make a decision or hold an opinion. They’re confident that they will meet other people who will agree with them.” So if an investor doesn’t like your pitch, stop selling him.   Find another. If you don’t get hired for the job, move on; find a company that gets you and needs you on their team. The minute you look back and try to persuade someone to change their mind, you have given up your power â€" and your charisma.   You must have confidence that someone out there will see your value and want you. That conviction is part of what will make them want you, in fact. Heres another tip: your energy is more important than your message. Houpert writes that charismatic energy is high energy, which means being extremely awake and alive. It’s also positive energy. You may not be the kind of person to jump on stage and wave your arms at the audience; that’s okay.   There is such a thing as quiet charisma (think cool like Barak Obama, Paul Newman, Humphrey Bogart or Lauren Bacall.) Charisma is also positive. How many times a day do you complain, whine, or grumble? Not cool. Not charismatic. Charismatic people also aren’t afraid to show their passion for an idea or a cause. They believe in what they care about, and it comes through in the energy they project. They’re in touch with their emotions. You may think your emotions are accidental â€" they just happen. Houpert says you’re mistaken. He writes: “Emotions don’t come to us.   We go to them.” You can choose what you’ll feel in this moment: joy, excitement, gratitude â€" or fear, anger, despair. Your choice, believe it or not. Charismatic people choose high energy, positive, passionate and joyful emotions every time. And they’re contagious. They make people around them feel more alive as well. It’s part of the reason charisma translates as “gift from the gods.” Charlie Houpert’s book contains action steps to help you practice building charisma. You’ll find lot of other tips on his YouTube channel as well.

Dont Know an Answer During A Job Interview Tips on How to Tackle this Situation - CareerMetis.com

Don’t Know an Answer During A Job Interview Tips on How to Tackle this Situation They call out your name and you are the next one to walk into a room where a panel is interviewing candidates for your most coveted job.Is this one of your most recent nightmares? Do not worry, you’re not alone.evalAn interview is nerve-wracking for almost everybody. The job interview is often the final stage in the recruitment process, where you either make it or break it. You only get one shot at the interview process.Unlike your resume, which you can edit and re-edit, a single interview is all you have to create a good impression on your recruiters. The initial handshake, your poise, confidence and your body language matter in those first few minutes. But, the average interview might go on for around 40 minutes. How do you continue to talk about yourself for such a long duration of time? What do you do when you don’t know what to say? What do you do when long nights of preparation almost seem futile? Here are a few things that may help:1) Do not panicevalIt is normal to not know answers in an interview. The most important thing is to stay calm. Take control of your mind and think of the interviewer as a friend.Accept that a mistake is okay and human. Do not stress about the fact that you are stressed.evalIf a question surprises you and you have not prepared an answer to it, breathe. Focus on your strengths and purpose, take your time to gather your thoughts and answer accordingly.2) Stay confidentNervousness is a state of mind, do not let it affect you. An interview is not just a tight-rope bridge to reach your desired job, it is a process of excitement and learning.Think positively, stay focused, maintain eye contact, enjoy and smile at intervals. Use formal language and provide answers in brief pauses.3) Don’t just hear, listen carefullyEven before you greet your recruiters, it is important to stay focused and clear your head of all distractions. You need to be present physically and mentally.evalObserve the facial expressions and body language of the i nterviewer to understand what is expected from you. This will help you to read between the lines and form a clear answer.4) Ask questions for clarificationsOnly if you are focused and listen carefully will you be able to understand if you need additional information to formulate an answer. You may not understand a question when it is posed at you. In that case, you may ask for clarification. You may repeat the question and explain your interpretation to clarify with the interviewer. An interview can flow into a conversation only when the interviewee is attentive and interacts beyond the training they have done.Example:‘That’s a new idea for me, please explain’‘You mean … 5) Proceed with examplesOn being asked about your strengths, just saying that you have exceptional patience is not enough.Provide persuasive examples to support the statements you make. Delve deeper into your personal life, if need be. Do not shy away from sharing details.Don’t just tell, show. The more y ou elaborate, the higher your chances of selection based on your experiences.Example:‘I put my leadership skills to use at the 2017 Conference…’‘In such a situation, I would do exactly what I did when my…’ Keep your body language professional. Try to rest for a few hours and practice power poses to boost your confidence before the interview.7) Shift the focusDrive an answer towards better aspects of your skillset or personality that you feel confident about sharing and elaborate on the same. You could take this opportunity to talk about something from the past that describes your traits. You could also ask a question in response to a question and follow up on it later.Example:‘I’m not keen on funding charity organizations but I do possess empathetic skills. Since the past few months, I have been volunteering every weekend for…’‘My experience with Adobe Illustrator is limited but I have worked on a similar tool i.e., Adobe Photoshop during my tenure at…’8) Re main sincere and honestIt is best, to be honest during the interview session so the answers are natural and believable.Do not make up bogus stories or fake skill sets or strengths about yourself simply because you feel that is what the interviewer wants to hear. They are well experienced in their field of work and would know if you fake your credentials.evalEven if you are selected, a job for which you have faked your abilities is neither good for you nor a company.Example:‘Even though teamwork is exciting as it gives the opportunity to connect with different ideas, I prefer to process myself first and then report to others’‘I prefer to have traditional work timings where I have enough time to rejuvenate myself for a fulfilling performance’‘Yes, we could have increased the shares, I did not pay much attention and I now realize that…’A successful interview is only possible when you have prepared and researched your concerned company, its functioning methods, case studie s, competitors and the overall outlook and purpose. You should go through your own resume and consider the pointers you have listed there. It is important to prepare beforehand so you have a level of composure during the interview. After all, you want to put your best foot forward.Even after sweating towards it, it is natural to get stuck or puzzled over a few questions. Nobody can predict what interview questions are asked but only prepare for the surprise ahead. So, there is no need to dishearten yourself or feel depressed in case things don’t work out as planned. There are always plenty of opportunities awaiting to prove your mettle. We wish you a happy and successful interview.
